my song "Happy" featured on The Young and the Restless

Posted on 18 May 2009 by josh

Hey guys and gals!

On May 19th, my song “Happy” will be heavily featured for 3 BIG ‘OL MINUTES on CBS’s soap The Young and the Restless… or “Y and R” for the cool kids.

I don’t know exactly when in the episode it will air, but I do know it will some sort of “montage.” I will post a video of the episode after it airs!

i think i’ll write a song for New Moon (Twilight 2)

Posted on 09 April 2009 by josh

Hello all!

So, the video below really explains everything, but I will give you the jist…

If you’ve been following me, you know that recently my song, “Again,” was used in this Youtube video about Twilight. And, it got an amazing response (over 730,000 views as of today). Part of that response, was Twilight fans asking me to write a song for the next installment of the story, New Moon. After much thought (and after “experts” telling me it’s not worth it), I’ve decided to put it back in the Twilight fans’ hands.

I want your help in creating a song to pitch to New Moon. Starting May 24th, I’m going to be documenting our journey in creating a piece of work that I want to perfectly communicate Twilight fans’ feelings about Edward and Bella’s relationship.

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR MORE DETAILS…

LET’S DO THIS!!!!

josh

P.S. Just a disclaimer… I can’t accept any lyrical suggestions. A song can’t have 100’s of writers. That just wouldn’t make sense, right? But trust me, there are plenty of areas where I can use your help.

two songs featured in the movie Bring It On 5

Posted on 06 April 2009 by josh

Hey guys and gals!

I just found out my songs “Happy” and “Tonight” will be featured in the new movie, Bring It On 5. The film stars Christina Milian, and might be released in theaters (as oppose to DVD) in the fall. Fingers crossed!!!!

I actually dug the first installment of Bring It On. Do you remember it? It starred Kirsten Dunst (can’t stand her), Eliza Dushku, and Gabrielle Union. No lie… I had no idea there was a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th editions. But that’s OK. I do now.

HAPPY featured in 2009 sugar bowl on fox

Posted on 06 January 2009 by josh

Hello all!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a not too scandalous New Year’s.

I received a late Christmas present the other day when it was brought to my attention that my song, “Happy,” was played in the background on one of the pre-game pieces during the Sugar Bowl on Fox. Pretty rad. And pretty unexpected.

Did you hear? Well, I didn’t. Boo!!!! If anyone TiVo’d the game, let me know.

So, to sum up the 2009 Allstate Sugar Bowl…

ANOTHER song featured on the hills

Posted on 14 November 2008 by josh

Crazy… just crazy.

For the second week in a row, The Hills used one of my songs in a key moment of the show. The song is “Step Outside,” and the moment is when Audrina moves out. It actually ends the show. Very cool.

Here’s the episode…

one of my songs featured on The Hills

Posted on 30 October 2008 by josh

What’s up everyone.

I found out today that my song, “Starting to Rain” was featured on MTV’s The Hills. This is a pretty big deal for me. Having a song on that show was one of my short term goals, and it feels pretty rad to accomplish it.

Below is a video of the episode it appeared in. It originally aired on October 20th, and the name of the episode (#411) is called “You’ll Never Have This.” My song starts at 16:24. It begins after an awkward conversation between Audrina and Justin Bobby, then ends right before an awkward conversation between Stephanie and, king of all douchebags, Spencer Pratt.

Enjoy!

more than i thought was possible

Posted on 22 September 2008 by josh

Wow.

That’s the only word I can come up for this one. I found out the other day that my song, “Starting to Rain” was used a few months ago in an E! show called Keeping up With the Kardashians. The significance of this is what, you ask? Well, besides being on a show that changes people’s lives, the placement means that all 10 songs off of my debut album have been featured in major TV/Film projects. An album that’s only 9 months old. That’s pretty rad.

Anyway, I thought I would pass that info along. I’m excited about it, and I feel like it’s just the tip of the iceberg as to what’s in store. I hope you hang around for the ride.

Josh

Here are some of the shows my music has been placed in these past few months…

3 SONGS TO BE FEATURED ON GREY’S ANATOMY

Posted on 11 August 2008 by josh

greys.jpeg

So, this is the one I’ve been keeping quiet for awhile now until it was official. Well… it’s a officially official, and I’m pretty pumped about it. My songs “No Such Thing,” “Beautiful,” and “Not Today” will be featured on the season four DVD of Grey’s Anatomy.

Having songs on a DVD is a very cool thing (in my humble opinion), because the show doesn’t just air whenever the network decides it will. It airs every time one of those thousands of people who bought that DVD decides to press play. For me, it feels like I can make a little more of an impact that way. Which is killer.

On a personal note, this is a big deal for me, because it means I can check off one of my short term TV/Film placement goals. In case you are wondering, here are the others…

1. Place a song in One Tree Hill
2. Place a song in The Hills
3. Land a trailer in a feature film

…and I’m working on all three.

Peace out.

Joshua

“QUIT AND GO HOME” FEATURED IN TRAILER FOR “SPACE CHIMPS” VIDEO GAME… APPARENTLY

Posted on 30 July 2008 by josh

space_chimps01.jpg

Hey boys and girls.

So, this is a funny one. I got a call today from a friend of mine, who told me he just heard my song “Quit and Go Home” on a commercial. I initially thought… “He’s got to be mistaken. I would know if one of my songs was featured in a national TV spot.” Well… apparently, I might NOT know if one of my songs is featured on a national TV spot. How ’bout that.

The trailer is for the video game “Space Chimps,” which is supposedly pretty popular. I haven’t heard of it, but a lot of people have. They just created a movie based off of the game that was released last week, and is doing very well. So, all in all, it’s a very cool thing.

Here is the spot…

“STEP OUTSIDE” TO BE FEATURED ON MTV’S EXILED

Posted on 24 July 2008 by josh

images.jpeg

Hey guys!

I just found out my song, “Step Outside,” is going to featured on MTV’s new show called Exiled.  It’s a spin off of their show, My Super Sweet 16.  Basically, they reconnect with the spoiled little brats a few years later, and give them a “real world” experience.  In the first episode, the chick gets sent to Africa.  Interesting.

Once I find out the date and time, I will let you guys know.  In the meantime, check out the trailer HERE.

Hey guys and gals.

I just found out that my song “Quit and Go Home” will be featured in a Nickelodeon movie called “Gym Teacher – The Movie.”The film will be released this fall, and stars Christopher Meloni (Law and Order: SVU… you would recognize him if you saw him), Amy Sedaris (Strangers with Candy… any Comedy Central fan knows she is absolutely hilarious), Nathan Kress (iCarly… apparently a huge Nickelodeon teen star), and David Alan Grier (In Living Color).

One pretty cool tidbit… this will be Nickelodeon’s FIRST PRIMETIME MOVIE. Pretty rad.

If you want to know more on the film, here is a link to the press release.

peace out.

“HAPPY” AND ABC’S PRIVATE PRACTICE

Posted on 11 May 2008 by josh

Hey guys and gals!

I’ve been keeping this one close to the vest until it was a done deal. Well, last week it became a done deal.

So…

images.jpeg

My song, “Happy,” has been chosen to be the official trailer for the season 1 DVD of ABC’s Private Practice. For those of you who don’t know, Private Practice is a spin off of Grey’s Anatomy.

This is probably my most important placement to date. The trailer will be seen as a preview on other DVD’s, in theaters, and in TV commercials.

BIG DEAL.

I don’t say it enough, but thanks for your continued support.

“NO SUCH THING” TO BE FEATURED ON MTV’s THE PAPER

Posted on 18 April 2008 by josh

the_paper_281x211.jpg

Hey everybody.

So, MTV has a new show right after “The Hills” called “The Paper.”  It’s a reality show that follows a high school newspaper in Florida.  At 10:30 pm Eastern on Monday, April 21st, my song “No Such Thing” will featured in the show. It should air towards the end of the episode.

A couple of thoughts on this placement…

One, this is my 4th song placed on MTV in the last 8 months, and I feel like I’m developing a really cool relationship with them. They are very cool people, and it’s been a great experience so far.  They are even creating a “Secrets in Stereo” band page for me that should be up by Monday.

And two, “No Such Thing” is an interesting song for me.  Although I like all the songs on my record, it’s probably my least favorite as far as how it turned out overall.  But, on the other hand, it’s my favorite as far as the message… truly realizing daily that each day might be your last, and to live it to the fullest.

It should be fun to see how MTV uses the tune. Find out with me on Monday!
